No Problem-Free Relationship

If you read The Star newspaper, you'll find that there's a column in Star 2 name Dear Thelma which is for people who is facing problems ( all sorts ) and email to Thelma for her advice.

Then there was this article which caught my attention.

The title was No problem-free relationship.

Let me just summarized on what problem was this girl facing:

She's 18 too this year, which meant she also sat for SPM last year. She was in the same class as her 3-year crush last year and they were together in the end.

A month later she called it off as she was afraid that her parents might know 'bout this relationship, and told the guy that they can continue their relationship after SPM.

But then when the guy wanted to be back with her again early this year, she rejected him as she was confused. They will be in college soon and she has no confidence in long distance relationships, and also she has a very long journey to go in her life. WHAT IF he's not the right one for her?

She still likes him, can't forget him, but need to have a clear mind and make a decision.

And this is what Thelma replied to her:

Every relationship has its challenge. Even it's not distance, it may be something else. She's not going to be able to wait for a "problem-free" relationship. And it sounds like she's afraid of commitments actually.

A relationship is not just about the good, sweet, happy times. It's also about weathering the hard times and resolving to come out stronger.

She will never know who's is going to be "the one" for her unless she takes time to know him. Though maybe in this process she'll have to face a few disappointments.

It may be better to learn how to overcome these rather than stay away from relationships for fear of disappointment.

Oh well, I think I just typed 98% of the actual article in my blog instead of summarizing as what I'd wrote just now.

Back to the point.

If you know me very well you might think that I'm the one who wrote this letter to Thelma. Because it's just so alike me having the same problem.

Excluding the 3 years crush on the same guy and were in a relationship, at least.

Well, what can I say? Thelma just knows how to give the suitable advice and reminds me that there ain't any problem-free relationships.

There must be something, obstacles or distance maybe, that all of us need to overcome so that the relationship will be stronger, and eventually stable enough.

I'm just like this girl, having lots of WHAT IFs, especially when we'll meeting new people, you'll never know who will fall in love with other girl/guy in college, where you can see her/him more than your partner if the both of you are in different college.

It just takes a lot of courage to make things work, and to get it right.

So, if you're facing the same matter, if the timing is correct, just go ahead. It'll turn out to be something more than you could expected, I believe.

Voila. =)
