5 Reasons You May Never Achieve Anything Significant

Significant: Success that is achieved is meaningful.

#1 Lack Determination for Action/Lack Motivation

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

- act for coming for decision

- no sense of urgency

- leads to inaction & procrastination

- don't know the purpose

- what am I good at? what is my gift/talent?

- what am I passionate about? what are the desire in our hearts?

- know your timing = don't miss chances and regret

- wait for crisis to happen only take action
- Be bias for action

#2 Allow Past Failures to Define You

1 Corinthians 6:11

And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

- Accuse you for your past sins to hinder the future
- experienced failures that weigh you down
- God uses your past sins/failures to turn it around for purpose, for His glory
- God's grace makes all things new

#3 Obsess with what others think of you

Proverbs 29:25

Fear of man will prove to be a snare,

    but whoever trusts in the Lord is kept safe.

- no freedom of saying no 
- conform to other's expectation -> afraid that people will persecute 
- don't know how to reject & blend in
- oppose what others say because of arrogance and pride
- whether it's reject or oppose, we are being controlled by men

#4 Your private life is chaotic/not in order

Proverbs 4:23

Above all else, guard your heart,

    for everything you do flows from it.

- lead and govern your own life first
- Physical health
- giving in lifestyle that entangles us
- if you keep tripping in sins, you won't be able to do big things for God.
- dysfunctionality in key relationships
-> spouses, in-laws, siblings, parent-child
-> hatred etc eat the hearts

#5 Underestimate the Power of the Holy Spirit in You

Acts 4:31

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken.And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.

Ephesians 3:20  

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us

- Journey with your own strength -> cancel a lot of things that we can do
- Our challenge: our willingness to let God's power do it through us
