Depression

It is a silent killer.

I have a friend who looks so happy-go-lucky on the outside but deep inside, he constantly have suicidal thoughts.

I'm not sure what is the exact reason which leads him to this situation. He admits that he has a dark side but refused to tell me what happened.

The only thing I can do is to constantly check out his posts and whatsapp him on and off but by doing it carefully without asking him too often because it might lead to the opposite situation.

Introverts are scary because they are so quiet and shy all the times, we don't know what they are thinking and feeling. Even if you ask, they will keep everything to themselves.

Extroverts are scary too. Because they are so good in hiding their real feelings until you don't even suspect that there's anything wrong with them, probably won't even thought of asking what's going on.

Look at what had happened to the latest plane crash.

If the crash happened due to weather (which is actually quite unlikely to happen as I don't remember having that many incidents of plane crashes due to this fact in the past 10 years, excluding what happened last year), we can't say much as it's beyond our control, beyond the pilots' control.

But then if it's due to man error, it's something that we can control.

In the latest New York Times article about this plane crash, it stated that before he received his pilot’s license or achieved his dream of flying passenger jets, the co-pilot of the crashed Germanwings jetliner was so troubled that he underwent treatment for “suicidal tendencies,” a prosecutor said Monday, raising questions about what the airline should have known about his condition.

And it costs 150 lives.

People who have depression hardly open up their problems to other people and whenever they do, their close ones must be quick enough to do something about it. Not to make it worse, but to be with them, giving them security and just let them feel that there are people who loves and cares for them.

Nevertheless, if they don't tell anyone, no one will know.

Sometimes it's just because the way they act, whether is they way they speak, the way they think, the way they dress, or even the way they eat, are judged by the society, and makes them think that they are the weird ones.

As what Justin Timberlake said during the recent iHeartRadio awards, “They called me different, they called me weird, they called me a few other things I can’t say on TV,” he said, sincerely. “My mother taught me that being different was a good thing.”

What differs you from others makes you unique, not weird. You just need to accept who you are and live life to the max, at the same times helping others to be themselves.

Here's an article from Pastor Jarrid Wilson, and it really open my eyes and help me to be less judgmental.  Click here to read it.
