Had a conversation with someone yesterday on how our past have the ability to haunt us despite our sincere remorsefulness and unwillingness to look back.
Well, most of the time we are unwilling to think of them anymore, just that sometimes we can't control other people's mouth and geh-po-ness. *roll eyes*
Back then when we were teenagers, we have no idea what this world has for us. We are curious, and we tend to do things in our ways. Many times, we don't understand why elders keep stopping us to do something that we think that is okay to do.
And sometimes, this feeling accumulated to anger. When anger takes control of your mind, you won't have any idea on what you were doing and everything just takes place by its own.
Teenagers want to be listened, want to be accepted, and they want to be acknowledged.
We will never stop making mistakes. When we were teenagers, we did these kind of mistakes, realised that we were wrong and vow to never do it again when we are in our 20s. And then when we are in our 20s, we did a different type of mistake. And again, we will regret doing the mistakes when we are in our 30s. Taking the wrong course, making the wrong decision, falling in love with the wrong people, mistakes just never end. But we don't take them as something that stop us from moving forward.
We learn, and we make mistakes again, just that this time, it might be different kind of mistake.
Sometimes we look back, we feel so..ugly. Yes, we are better people now, we don't make the mistakes that we once did. If we were given a chance, I believe that we will make things right.
But that's the irony of life, isn't it? We don't have a chance to turn back the clock, erase our mistakes and be perfect. That's it, nobody's perfect.
Who we are today, is due to whatever happened in the past. But we don't let them conquer our future, not even our present.
What's more important is, when we did those mistakes, those who know what happened, our parents, our friends, God, chose to accept and love us, and they never stop loving us.
The blessing in disguise of the mistakes is that we got the chance to see who truly love us. And who leave us when we were at our worst situation, or when our past is mentioned in the present.
Perhaps one day, when our past is once mentioned, we will be able to feel thankful as without the mistakes that we made, we won't be who we are today. :)
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. - Jeremiah 29:11 -
