Unshakable

Hebrews 12:27

27 The words “once more” indicate the removing of what can be shaken—that is, created things—so that what cannot be shaken may remain.

What cannot be shaken?

1.) Throne of God

Hebrews 12:28

28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe,

Psalm 45:6

6 Your throne, O God,[a] will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

All things are possible with God as God knows what to do in our lives.

Proverbs 19:21

21 Many are the plans in a person’s heart,
but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.

We can have many plans for our lives, when to get married, where to work, how much to earn etc, but it's always God's plans that will take place in the end.

I learn that I can rest in peace as surely mercy and grace will follow me wherever I go.

2) Word of God

Mark 13:31

31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Isaiah 55:10-11

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Whether it's 20 years back, or 2016, even though many things may change, but the Word of God never changes as God doesn't change. It's still our responsibilities to obey our parents, to not murder, to love God and one another and etc. These values will never change despite the advance of technology.

3) Church of God

Matthew 16:18

18 And I tell you that you are Peter,[a] and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades[b] will not overcome it.

The Body of Christ cannot be shaken. Even if the church fails, the spirit of church cannot fail. I'm sure that many of you have heard of the scandal of City Harvest Church in Singapore, and after what had happened, people still continue to attend the church. Yes, it's disappointed to hear that Christians are involved in such cases, but as what Pr Eric says, the spirit of church cannot be shaken. Christians attend Sunday service not because of pastors or because the environment is nice or the music is great, but because of the love of God in their spirits.

"Real faith is not built on Sunday in the church, but when we leave the church. And how we bring ourselves is the most important of all."
