Expected.

Remember when I was younger (well, smaller), my parents used to bring me to shopping malls to enjoy the countdown concerts. That time artistes like Gary Chaw and Nicholas Teo were among the favourites. We also purposely went to some places where they said will emit beautiful fireworks. Not that we couldn't see from our houses, but it will be more beautiful and more wahhhhh (much noisier at the same time too) if you go to the place itself. Hahahaha.

Fast forward, perhaps due to my exams being held in January, or perhaps, they are getting old and don't really like crowded places and the need to be stuck in traffic jam after the countdown, we don't go out for countdowns anymore. We just stayed in our home, watch tv or just do our own stuff. When the clock strikes 12am, you will start to hear sound of fireworks booming. Sometimes we admire the fireworks through tv, sometimes we went outside our house to watch it under the starry starry night.

I still remember hurting my mum's (not sure about my dad though HAHAHA) feelings that I wanted to countdown with my friends for the following year. That time I think I just entered secondary school, being very sticky to my friends and all. I just got bored of celebrating New Year with parents. Same O' time, same O' people. I guess my mum who's sticky to me can't accept that her daughter wants to stick with other people already. Hahaha.

I never got the chance to celebrate New Year other than my parents though. But I don't mind anymore.

This year I actually felt so normal until I treated it as if it's just... another day. Yeah, we change calendars and all, but, it's just...another day. I don't even feel excited watching fireworks anymore.

When I was in primary school, I can get so excited about an event, be it Teachers' Day or Children's Day until I had difficulties sleeping on the previous night. I got butterfly stomach and all readied to have fun.

But as I grow older, all these "magics" disappeared bits by bits. Children get excited easily because a lot of things are new to them. But when we become adults, it's just the same thing happening over and over again.

Or is it just me, that's not exciting about the brand new year? I just think that if we want to change our habits, make resolutions, we don't need to wait till New Year. Just do it. Perhaps that's why 1st of January became another original day. Starting this year.

The change that I did to my blog since last year is that I'll end almost every posts with a Bible verse or a phrase regarding God. I managed to keep this habit almost everytime I post something (except for recommended songs and etc). So this year, what I'm going to do is, I'll post something positive that is reflected throughout the day. What did I learn through situations, especially negative ones, or what situation did I feel blessed. Etc, etc. As long as it's positive la. I'll try to think of at least one.

So, I have two encounters today.

First, when I was on my way back to home, we were stuck in a massive jam on the road outside Kg Sg Buloh. Practically the moment we passed the traffic lights from Shell station in Kota Damansara, we were stuck. For an hour. Turned out that they were trying to connect the overhead bridge (AT THIS HOUR?!!!) so they blocked the whole two-lane road. Forced us to turn into Kg Sg Buloh and made a u-turn. Hopefully this incident will appear in FB so that you'll understand more on what I say la. But as we were about to follow the others to turn back, we saw 2 cars going to another road. We cheekily followed them. Hehehehe. And tadaaaa, turned out that there is another road to the main road.

Moral of the story: The two cars might be angels sent to lead us back to our home in a shorter time. And yeah, because of that, we learned a new route from Kg Sg Buloh to the main road. :D

Second, my mum bought me a pair of new socks from Sox World for only RM 2. HAHAHAHA. I was surprised as we don't buy socks from Sox World, and socks from Sox World worth only RM2?! And of course, it has been quite some time since she goes out and buy something for me without asking me. I mean, I don't need more socks already la, I got more than enough. But she just bought for me and out of nowhere I just felt touched. :')

It's blue!
Moral of the story: Don't spoil your daughter by buying stuff for her always. Long time only buy once and she will want to thank you by crying already. HAHAHA. :P

So, that's it. End of 1st post of 2016. Didn't expect to write so long. Hehe. Sorry for taking your time to read so long. :P

Lord, keep me always mindful of Your inevitable return. Thanks for the assurance that this world is not all we have but that a blessed eternity awaits for all who trust in You.
